Neither ANDI nor I were parties to Techdiver. In an offical capacity, I posted a response to some comments which were brought to my attention. It was polite, impersonal, and for the most part well written. I received a lot of replies, both public and e-mail. Some were on the general topic. Most were off my two focused points. Too many were personally nasty, and most came from people I don't know and who don't know me. (You don't even know of me, to be sure.) Judging by the number (and heat, for which I still don't understand) of the replies, people did read the stuff. Ideas stand by themselves. Good ones don't need a vociferous messenger (maybe just some enthusiasm.) It's just as easy to make one's point with diplomacy and tact as to be crude and vile. If you feel the need to scream, curse, personally insult strangers, to ensure you are heard, maybe your message isn't all that compelling or valuable. Time always tells. I do not care what motivates someone to post a public, cruel response. Anger, knee jerk reaction, nobly saving the public from itself. Whatever. I made a suggestion, not a threat, and it still stands. It works for senders and recipients alike. Rights and responsibilities cut both ways. We each make our own decisions and then live with history. I mentioned no names but a lot of people thought I was talking about or to them. I'm not sure what that says. You figure it out. Stuart P.S. Trying to altruisticly SAVE THAT ONE LIFE, and therefore justify all this behavior? If you don't get out of the gutter, you'll never be taken seriously. To have a fundamental impact on the business of this industry, learn to do business. (Tell me I'm wrong in ten years.)
