Minor correction, the first quote was mine not the second (not that it's
really relevant but I don't drink, so no worries with the "bubbly").

As a general note I'm pleased with the positive responses I've received,
thanks to everyone who replied (seems a major improvement on recent
negative postings, lite relief perhaps?). Bit concerned by Andreas note.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I have heard of similar incidenced of
material being pushed into the lungs. Perhaps confining one's self to
liquids is the safest idea.

I've seen these before (I cycle and do a bit of bushwalking/climbing) look
like a good idea although they are a bit more expensive over here ($80-90),
certainly worth looking into further though. Dan Fountain's idea of a a
bike bottle would be good in the interim (one could slot into the holder
for my spareair, just under the front of my BC, when I'm not using it (easy
to reach!!)).

Anyway thanks again for all replies.
