I seem to recall the Australian Martini Scale for diving on air; 1 - kitting up (+1 for cold water kit) 1 - entering water 1 - any depth to 15m 1 - any 10m or part thereof to 35m 1 - any 5m or part thereof beyond. 170 ft is about 52m, so you're on 10 martinis. I've been to 52m but I've never had 10 martinis so I can't comment on it's accuracy. My buddy looks like he's had about eight pints so make of that what you will. Basically, gas tox is unlikely to top you at 50m. But diver error due to narcosis and the extra variation in the deco tables are far more common. My hap'orth on WWIII, I like George, he reminds me of the guy who taught me to dive. But if he thinks cost is not going to be issue in dive planning he's living in cloud cuckoo land. Jason.
