About 8 to 9 years ago I was in a dive shop in north London (UK) and I came across some portable filters that you could put between your tank and the compressor. Basically one end attached to the hose of the compressor and the other end to the tank valve. This did not replace the filter already in the compressor but as air quality can vary so much between dive shops it gave you some peace of mind. You never know until after you have got your cylinder and you take the first breath whether it is dodgy or not and the cost of having to get your cylinder and valve cleaned to get rid of the taste and smell. Does anybody know who made them and if they are still making them. Correct me if I am wrong but would this then not allow people to get their Nitrox cleaned cylinders filled from compressors and air shops that do not provide Nitrox. If anybody knows where to get them please drop me a line. I have a friend who is an engineer who would be willing to make a few up if we cannot find a supplier. JOHN John M.
