Hi, my mailer doesen't seem to think that srd.bt.co.uk exists. Here is my answer to the 3 min. setup time for the Wenoll O2 system. Pete, 3 minutes would be too long if it was added to the time it takes to get the diver out of the water, and his equipment. In pratice, O2 is not avalible when 2 divers are alown. If you have O2, you have enough people to do things in parallel. If you have the O2, and are alown, it will generaly take more then 3 minutes to get the bent diver to the O2. It is also the experance of the German dive agences that O2 is not generaly avalable at dive sites. This is partialy a result of cost. This system is designed to be cheep, and give O2 to the diver as long as posable. It is my understanding of DCS that it is much more important to give 100% O2 for as long as posable, as it is to give him less faster. With all systems that I have seen, you have to wait till the diver is out of the water, and has at least his mask, and reg. removed befor you can give O2. I have also learned that you should remove the equipment, and dive suit befor giving O2 to the diver. You could keep the system assembled at the dive site, however the chances that it would be damaged in a boat full of divers, the time that it would take to assemble/dissassemble, the fact that it is just about never needed and the wear that it would recive being assembled/dissassembled so often would probly result in even the most safety conscious dive group leaving it in the case till it is needed. don If you have further questions that you want to discuss in email, could you give me an address that I can send to? don
