REPLY o REPLY o REPLY o REPLY RE>Beuchat Aladin Maestro Pro/ Hi Scott, I have for many years an Aladin Pro and I tested it many times. The error mode comes in the situation when: >>'Your computer will go into Gauge Mode if: >> more than five minutes has elapsed with the depth less than the ceiling In the manual "less" means shallower and not deeper. It means, when the diver goes over the deco stop depth (for example 5 m instead of 6 m) the Aladin start to blink and to beep. Five minutes later the decompression computer goes in error mode. BUT!!! When I am over the deco stop, the decompression computer "stop" counting my decompression time and start again when I go deeper then the required depth. It means I will have penalty decompression time if I go over the limit even for a few seconds. I can imagine two possible situations of breaking the rules: 1. Diver unintentionally goes over the limit and having a signal from the computer goes back for proper decompression. 2. There are some emergency reasons and diver went higher then the deco stop intentionally. After that we can have two options: A, Diver goes back for decompression in a short time. B, The emergency situation is critical and somebody needs medical treatment immediately. In first situation 5 minutes must be enough. In the second case if we must bring somebody the decompression chamber we can't go back again to the water and even 30 minutes wouldn't be enough. In fact, Aladin is one of the best computers if we see error modes. The "old" Aladin Pro goes in error mode only 10 minutes after breaking the decompression rules. When I got the beast home, I started to RTFM, and found on page 43 'Gauge Mode Alarm' the warning that: 'Your computer will go into Gauge Mode if: more an five minutes has elapsed with the depth less than the ceiling [snip]' So now I'm worried. I bought the machine for decompression diving. I understood from advertising that this was a deco computer, in fact they had gone to the trouble of adding a second mix feature specifically designed to support air diving with a high O2 deco gas. Now I read the manual and it implies that the computer will turn into a gauge if I don't 'ascend immediately' when it indicates that deco is required. Is this a 'feature' of the Beuchat version, or is it a Cochran feature? From the manual, it looks like I should return the thing in the morning. Am I reading this wrong? Thanks, Scott. ----------------------------------------------------
