Welcome Art it does sound like you are advancing at a cautious pace.  One
piece of equipment I usually dive with along with two knives is a pair of
wire cutters, every now and then you can run across some stainless steel
fishing leaders and sometimes they can be good to cut mono-filament under
unusual situations.
