I find it much easier with a taut anchor line (such as is the case on days with big current.) I'm very concerned about losing the boat during decompression in Monterey; some folks I dive with started using transit lines (long auxiliary anchor line + jump reels) to make damned sure we don't lose the boat in poor vis & silty bottoms. Doing a long hang in a busy bay in deep cold water gear (drysuit, doubles, pony) drifting away from shore and your boat is not my idea of a good time.
