Subject: MR16 Lights
There has been a question about MR16 bulbs, so I dug out my Philips
catalog- All are 12v, 2000-3000 hr. life. Stores often refer to them
as "display lamps".
code beam angle watts
ESX 12 20 Good bulb
FJX 6 25 Philips only-special order.Sounds
                                nice but haven't tried
EXT 13 50 I think the 35 watt gives better light
EYF 14 75 Haven't tried
FMT narrow spot 35 Not listed in the catalog, is my
                                favorite bulb.
The following make nice video bulbs when used with a frosted lens
BAB 36 20
EXN 40 50
EYC 38 75
There are others, but these should be the most useful.

These are running at a comparatively low color temp. 2925-3050 K.
so they could stand to be overdriven for more efficiency and will
still have a long life. I have had fine results with my FMT on a
14.4 volt, 8 amp.hr. nicad battery pack. Gates sealed lead-acid
cells can be combined to give 14 volts, etc. However, they work
just fine on 12 volts as my Dive-Rite lights have proven.

One time at Home Depot I found some carded Sylvania bulbs labeled
35 watt 12 volt Narrow Spotlight which were nice. The bulb was marked
with a different naming convention: 35MR16/Q NSP/P 12v . Look for the
NSP as it means narrow spot. The Q stands for Quartz-halogen.

Hope that covers it- Paul Smith
