>PS BTW Home made devices usually end up costing more than the commercial >ones by the time you get the bugs worked out and destroy a few things, >but if you want to do it for the joy of creation, more power to you.. >Paul (Helpful Heloise) Smith I don't know where you live but here in eastern Canada, a single battery Dive Rite light will cost you about $800cdn, while a two battery light sells for close to $1100cdn. I've made myself a 12V7Ah 35W MR-11 light for about $140 and a 12V14Ah 75W MR-16 for $165. And, I personally think that my battery cases are better than the D/R equivalents, at least mine are round, not square! Dive lights are nice projects for DIY fans, there's not much you can destroy! As for catalytic converters: I once had a battery case explode while recharging. Back then, I was recharging the battery IN the case, with only a small venting hole that I had to open each time. What happenned is that I forgot to open the vent, went back after two hours of recharging, openned it and boom! I think that the folks at Lacey's will remember that one... Richard
