i am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem w/their dive computer.
i was on the first dive of the day, turn on the computer about an hour before
we arrived at the site and everything checked out fine, the battery was full,
the old dives were in the log, etc... i assembled the rig and tucked my
console inside my bc to keep off the sunlite... at the surface everything was
still fine and i watched the console on the way down..no problems...

PROFILE:
max depth was 112 fsw w/total bottom time of 27 min's...i left the bottom
at 25 min's and on the way up saw the computer was calling for a 14 min stop
@ 20 ft. at 20 ft. i started my stopwatch got comfy for the hang.. after a
few min's i noticed the computer wasnt giving me any credit for the time. i
began wonder what was happening and dropped to 22 ft. because i thought the
semi-rough seas might be throwing off my depth a bit...after 16 min's at 22 fsw
the computer switched to a 10 ft. stop for 8 min's...this put my total time
at 43 min's..so i proceeded to 11 ft. and waited there...after 10 minutes there
i was still not receiving credit for the stops...the bar graph was full and the
'dec' header was still visible...i waited @ 10 ft. for a total of 17 minutes
which put the entire dive over 60 mins. after 60 mins i decided to end the dive
and head to the surface. as soon as i hit 5 ft. the computer locked me out,
incorrectly assuming i had blown my stops...i talked w/the capt. and the mate
and did not feel i would be at risk of taking any hits because i felt i had
made enough hang time to offgas considering the short bottom time.

i have since checked the extended tables (dive was on sunday) and by that
i should have had between 3 and 5 min's @ 10 ft. to get into 20 ft. at that
depth i would need in the 40 min range on the btm. the computer has since come
back to its senses and the log is convinced i should be riding in a chamber by
now...the shop i bought the unit from has called sherwood and they are going
to send it back home...i am just completely in the dark on this and wondering
if anyone has had a similar experience...

and in case you didnt already know,;-) computer is Sherwood Encore, mounted in
a standard Sherwood console and only a month or two old...
