I agree Alex. The way I figure it, thoughts and opinions expressed
in this forum are works-in-progress not final position statements.
This is the place to float half-formed (and -baked) ideas, and voice
opinions, in order to elicit responses that enable us to complete
the picture. I'd hate to see debate inhibited by the possibility of
permanency in print.

And the idea of publications trawling these forums as a cheap source
of out-of-context media-bites is repugnant too.

On the other hand, some concepts and observations made here are too
acute and incisive not to share. In this case, as with any other
form of discourse or conversation, permission to quote should be
obtained to ensure the quote reflects the author's true or intended
position. Its only ethical.

As far as the Berne convention on copyright goes (most countries are
signatories) as soon as you've authored something that's an original
work (including original comments in this forum) the copyright rests
exclusively with you. No-one can reprint, adapt or make use of it
without your express permission. And you can sue anyone who makes
money out of the unauthorised use of your original work.

Now, just to bring diving into this, I sussed most of the above
on my 3m hang over the wreck of a big 160 foot dredge that lies
on its side on a 48m bottom - one of half a dozen or so accessible
wrecks between 40 and 70m deep off the Sydney coast. My favourite is
a sea-going ferry - the DeeWhy - that sits upright on the bottom. The
interior's easily accessible and there's some classic tracking shots
along the promenade decks with big blue groper and giant cuttlefish
mooching in and out through the windows. Visibility hits 20 metres in
winter. Y'know, Australian diving isn't all gorgeous corals and
extraordinary fish-life. We've got some very hot cold water diving too.
It's just that the Barrier Reef gets all the best press. Oh well. Stops
the tourists messing up the good sites. One last thing (you can tell
I've been lurking for a while) what sortofa name is Giii01?

Tomorrow - breathers. :)

                 Billy
