OK now for a stupid question. Whats wrong with a mechanical rebreather?  One
that 
would work off pressure and metering valves.  Have a gas analyzer to monitor
the gas 
and give information to the diver through a console or a heads up. But have the
gas 
functions controlled through basic  mechanics.

Dont flame me too bad. This is just a question because I do not know better.
