That's pretty much my perspective as well.  As long as the person who
originally said it is credited, and as long as the meaning of the message
isn't too twisted, I'm not sure I understand how quoting in this way is
different from one published book/article quoting the words of another
author from another published book/article (happens all the time - that's
what bibliographies are for).

I DEFINITELY agree with the last sentence.  I hammered away very hard on
Mike after "Hard" and "Wreckers" to return to the roots and make the mag
more like it used to be.  I know a lot of others did the same.  Although I
haven't yet seen the new issue, I'm glad to hear it's looking better.

As for citing the source as well as the author, I'm not sure where my
ethical stance is, but I think it's a good idea - as someone else pointed
out, it should be done the way Newsweek does it.

Although I still like this thread because it is intellectually
stimulating, it's sort of moot as far as A/C goes.  Mike already knows
about the problem, acknowledges that he should have contacted authors
first, and indicated he will context before publication in the future.
