The hood itself is a thin neoprene with an inside latex layer. If I place the skirt of my mask *over* the neoprene, it seals completely dry. Any other way and it leaks water into the hood. As I tend to exhale quite a bit from the nose the hood does fill with air easily, but it has never been a real problem (although I do use a hemet). One problem I have found is that as the suit is aging the hood is shrinking to some degree, making sealing the mask over the hood more of a problem.
