Hi folks!

Thought it would be polite to introduce myself before taking part in the
techdiver list exchanges.
I am a diver located at Bergen(west coast)in Norway. Due to my studies
I have been located here for what seems forever, but since the diving here
is among the best in Norway, I won`t complain.

I have participated actively in the student diving group and gained
experience in different fields of scientific diving, but most importantly,
been part of a small but active group of "self made" technical divers.
We have largely operated on our own, then only lately there has been any
organised attempts within this type of diving.
We do not yet have any established training agencies like IANTD or ANDI, but
hope to get some instructors over here during the next year.

My big passion and interest in diving has been wreck history and diving.
This part of the country has a high number og lost shipping. Among the most
interesting are the German shipping lost during WW2. Most of these ships lie
intact in depths beyond the limits of sports diving(thank god!)
During the last decade I have aquired a substantial archive over shipping
losses in Noway, most of which is located on a data base using Data - ease.
I have had the opportunity to visit archives Mainly in Germany and UK,
thereby finding information hard to come by in this country.

Anyway(I am ranting on)the use of more advanced diving practices open new and
pristine wrecks to us, during the next few years we plan to visit a number of
these.

At the moment we are working on a dive project to visit the wreck of the
German transport "Sao Paulo" lying by Bergen in 80-90m.
She was carrying military supplies for the german invation of Norway in 1940,
but ran on a mine close to Bergen. The wreck was only located 2 years ago by
a three "wreck researchers", including myself. From what we can see on ROV
pictures and by my own observations, the wreck is totally intact, you can
almost hear the bell!

For anyone interested in wrecks along these remote parts of the world, feel
free to contact me, I`ll be happy to supply any information.

Sorry for bothering you guys with this, but anyway now you know who I am,
I am looking forward to exchange wiews and information through this service.
