#: Poseidon has had a new 1st stage for Jetstream/Odin for sometime. It has #:one low pressure outlet more than the old one and the outlook design is # I just purchased a set of Poseidon Odin/Jetstream. Havent even used it # yet. I have a swivel on the HP hose only. The port is directly in the # back. So it can be used to either side. If I remember correcttly: # 1 HP # 4 LP -The extra lp is for a drysuit. # 1 Reserved which is not used for anything. # The people I dive with use the swivel on thier HP's and recomend it. # No problems associated with it. I was of the impression that the swivel originally referenced would occur where the hose meets the second stage. My Odin (as well as many regs) will rotate at this point. The HP swivel mentioned here is really an *elbow*. It doesn't swivel after installed, but redirects the HP port from the back of your head to a 90 degree angle coming out of the first stage. This elbow was NOT included with the first stage originally. It is how Poseidon is dealing with what I label an engineering/design error. The port arrangement on the first stage is goofy. And any compactness is lost to the addition of the elbow fix. I called Viking and they sent me the elbow, free of charge. The port access on the Poseidon also leaves a lot to be desired. A wrench won't fit flat against the first stage to attach/detach hoses. They've designed the port surface area into recesses. It looks nice, but the old first stage was a hell of a lot easier to work with. I purchased a new Odin in April 1992. The unit delivered after a 3 month wait studdered. I returned the unit to a local Poseidon service center. They suggested the unit wasn't new, but possibly rebuilt. To shorten a long story, I sued the dive store for delivery of a new unit. This new reg arrived in August 1992. It studdered also. I sent it to Viking for repair. This reg has been bouncing back and forth since Aug 1992. Viking has failed to fix the problem. It is now Feb 1993 and I just received the unit back from Viking, again. It got to the point that UPS will just pick up the reg, Viking having prepaid my shipping costs. While I understand the Odin is a great reg, you won't know it by my experiences. After 10 months I still don't have a functional unit. I'm hoping that Parkway will offer higher quality service. Obviously, Viking was never able to do that. Good news for California Odin owners! Altho Viking is no longer the US distributor for Poseidon, they are responsible for all those LIFETIME warranties they included with the regulators, regardless of changes in distributorship. :-) Are there any other Odin users that have experienced a studder with their reg? I'm told this is caused by the servo tip orifice being off center or out of round and is easy to fix. Folks that repair these units tell me it isn't a safety problem. Users all say they've never experienced it. All along Viking has been saying my reg needed repair. -Joseph Crunk
