Subject: Rebreathers: absorbent heating?
A question for the rebreather community:

In several articles and postings it's been mentioned that absorbent
efficiency is effected by temperature; as temperature decreases so
does the efficiency of the material.

In other articles (aquaCorps "C2", pp 24 'BAILOUT') it's mentioned
that at least one unspecified absorbent material is exothermic, so much
so that the reaction noticably warms the diver's helmet in cold
water.

My question is, has anyone intentionally designed an absorbent canister
to make use of the heat biproduct to keep the absorbent at its optimum
operating temperature? If not, why not?

Thanks,
Scott.
