Knowing how little we actually "know" about narcosis from scientific research, I tend to trust my own experience more than I trust published scientific studies (besides, since I have never been the test subject of any narcosis study, my own experiences seem more applicable to what I really care about -- me). In *my own personal* case, I strongly believe that I have increased my "reaction" abilities through narcosis acclimization, as manifest by an increased ability to collect fishes with a pair of hand nets (a skill that requires a high degree of response-to-stimulus). But the more I read how my experiences are inconsistent with the experiences of others, the more I become convinced that I am a Freak, and therefore the less people should pay attention to me...
