I think some care is in order in attributing visual disturbance symptoms to oxygen toxicity, especially when working hard. Many years ago I experienced visual disturbances (inability to focus) while breathing air at a little less than one atmosphere. At the time I was trying to carry a pack too heavy for me part way up Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. The symptoms disappeared after I had rested for a few minutes. Looking back I imagine that the difficulty was either Co2 buildup or anoxia. At the time I had been exercising regularly and was in quite good shape. Bruce Gerhard bruceg@wo*.st*.co*
