-- [ From: Mike Sandler * EMC.Ver #2.3 ] -- If its not too late take a look at the Mares Abyss/MR22's, I also own Scubapro mk15/G250's, The Mares has got to be the dependable reg. in my group ( in addition to the above I also have a CressiSub a couple of ProSubs and an older AMF SwimMaster). The Mares performs as well as the MK15's and at depth ( 200 ft. range ) in cold water, the G250 have the be adjust to the point where they a on the verge of freezing-up to breath as easily as the Mares (and exhibits no freezing or freeflowing ) does. Also I once did a shore dive with a buddy in some heavy surf and after a very rough exit, I found that all the regs (he was using my equip.) EXCEPT for the Mares Abyss, were fouled with sand to the point where I could easily inhale and exhale through the second stages while the first stages were still connected to the tanks and the tanks were turned off !!( through the exhaust ). All but the Mares that is, the sand had not affected it whatsoever. All are easy to clean there the second stage diaphragms but the Mares upon inspection didn't need cleaning.
