I have traded a few emails with ikelite@ao*.co* about the lite, and
have their catalog. They seem to sell the lite with only
one battery, limiting your 50w burn time to, well less than a
Dive Rite Mini NL(12V/7Ah) to the SpDAA (12V/4.5Ah). Now they usee
Nicads, so perhaps they discharge differently and thus give more
than the obvious 4.5/7 ration of burn time (still learning
about battery characteristics...). Anyway I trieed to convince the
guy that this was not an acceptable burn time for cavers, and I didnt
see recreational divers running out and dropping $500 on such a lite,
so why not bundle it with 2 batteries to get the burn time compatible
with the full D/R Neutralite (which has 2 batteries), but that
argument did not get very far... so yes you can add additional
battery packs to the SpD-AA, but I think they are something like
$200-$250, which brings the total cost well above what the
D/R and American Underwater Lights offerings.

Cool battery packs though ;-)

Mike

My opinions, not Alcatel's they only function when open.
