David Drake asked me to expound on my statement "Remember, you can't just apply
PO2 tolerance for pure O2 to mixed gas."

Here goes: Aquacorps "Mix", page 67, the Rev. Ed Lanphier. "..most people
thought we could just translate the limits (of PO2 tolenance) to mixed gas on
the basis of inspired oxygen partial pressure, much as the nitrogen pressure
was used to figure mixed gas decompression according to the EAD principle.
...What happened then gave us a real shock...Convultions occured with nitrox at
pressures and times that should have been safe...The results were quite
different with 100% O2...

Aquacorps N7, "C2", page 54, "Oxygen Exposure management", Richard Vann.
(referring to oxygen tests) "The mixed gas incidents occured at lower partial
pressures than the Mixed gas incidents."

For the negative: Aquacorps, "DEEP", "O2, Should Use for Deco", John Crea II,
page29.
"...there is some evidence that breathing pure O2 produces serious toxic
effects quicker than breathing a mix containing an inert gas." However, there
is no reference to the evidence, and this seems at odds with other studies.

Rod Nairne.
