Something that works for me is to use one brand of reg for bottom mix (I use
Poseidon Odins) and different brands for other mixes (I use a Poseidon Cyklon
for nitrox and a Scubapro for O2). These regs are all shaped very
differently, so it is hard to get them confused. In fact, even if I had my
hands tied behind my back, I could still tell the difference between regs by
the feel in my mouth and the way they sound when I breathe off of them. I
also color mark the O2 clean Cyklon and Scubapro, write "O2" on them, and
always dive with the nitrox in the left stage and O2 in the right stage,
adding several extra layers of protection. Some folks also like to put a
cover on the O2 so that you have to think before you start breathing off it.
