To respond to a post regarding regulator marking: There are as many ways to configure and mark tanks and regulators as there are divers on this mail list. The variables are: 1) Number and size of your tanks 2) Where you have them placed. 3) Whether you plan to stage the tanks or wear them. 4) Equivalent Narcosis Depth (EAD) -- confusion factor 5) Your physical size 6) Gases being used 7) Redundancy of tanks and Regulators 8) Restrictions and entanglement hazards 9) Visibility (or lack thereof) 10) Whether you're swimming or riding a scooter 11) How much money you have---or had before you bought all this equipment!) 12) Ten more variables that I can't think of right now. (I'm sure respondents to this post will add a few.) The point is that what works for me, under a given set of circumstances, may or may not work for you. There are guidelines though. You should be able to easily identify and reach your regulators even under the heaviest narcosis you plan to experience (about ppN2 = 6ATA for me). The regulators should be easily identifiable by both sight AND by tactile feedback (total silt outs or no lights). I think taging regulators with the gas they deliver is a good idea, but few divers do this. I recommend experimentation on easier dives, using different configurations to see what fits for you. And beware: there are those divers who think that there way is the ONLY way. Just smile at these people and know that thier minds are closed -- arguing with them is usually futile. Also make sure that your buddies are familiar with your configuration and that you are familiar with theirs. Frequent buddies usually wind up with similar configurations anyway. Safe Diving!
