Subject: Anatomy of a subterfuge

Well, I think we can see how JT operates now. When anyone challenges him,
he tries to dig up dirt and bullshit stories on them to avoid facing
reality. The closer you are to the truth, the more he resists, even trying
to blackmail you and try to get you fired in order to shut you up. JT,
allow me to quote Jack Nicholson: "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH."

This is an interesting trend though - the more JT criticizes or attacks
someone else, the more he is trying to hide the truth (usually about
himself). This has been fairly evident in the past couple of days, but I
decided to review some of his old posts to see where this appears throughout
his 43 technical dives.

For example, on just his trio of ANDREA DORIA trips in 2001, there are
several interesting events. On the second trip, JT stated "their [sic] was
nobody else on this boat that could do what I just did." At this point, it
looks like JT has around 30 technical dives below 150fsw. He stated this to
a group of veteran DORIA divers after free-dropping a 697-foot long wreck,
with about 50-60 feet of relief, and that rises to within ~180fsw of the
surface. OK.

Then JT states: "I also remained in seclusion on this trip, not happy with
my actions and not happy with the actions of one of my crew on a personal
note , we did not speak to each other unless we had to, more stress for me.
I was not having a good time...."

NOTE: he makes reference to the fact that someone he was not happy with was
the reason he stayed in seclusion for the rest of the trip. This, the guy
who says he "always tells the truth." Well, it turns out JT was in his bunk
sucking on O2 because he was bent. Now, I am not criticizing the fact that
he got bent, just pointing out that "honest JT" is not so honest.

Now, it also looks like the third trip was fairly interesting. JT prefaces
his whole story about how inexperienced everyone was (this coming from a guy
who, at the time, had around 32 technical dives past 150fsw). This
criticism of others should be a red flag that a clusterfuck is about to
occur, which indeed does happen. He loses a goodie bag with "over 500
dollars in stuff" in it (makes you wonder what he had in it, huh?) and later
he somehow gets tangled up in line that was "falling" on him. We all know
how fast line "falls" in water, and can understand how one can get tangled
in it to the point you have to make a concerted effort to untangle yourself,
right? Anyway, JT "retreated back to my seclusion as I did on the second
trip, disappointed in the whole trip, refusing to dive and save myself for
anything if necessary , mad at everything everyone ." Furthermore, he
stated that he "would not speak to anyone, I stayed in my bunk and only came
out to check the weather and eat." I wonder if he took the O2 with him
also, being that seclusion = bent on the first dive. But, JT always tells
the truth about everything, right?

Makes you wonder if anyone else got bent on that third trip. Hmmmm. Nah,
it couldn't be, as JT didn't say anything about it, and he never covers
anything up and always tells the truth.

Let's roll forward to 2002 and Lake Jocassee. Here comes the warning in
JT's trip report: "As the date came within a week the excuses started
rolling in, I even heard one guy say his wife was planning on getting
pregnant that weekend and he wanted to be there when it happened, so he
couldn't make the dive. (not really true, but sounds good don't it)."

There is the red flag. So let's read about the resulting clusterfuck: "At
one point I knocked my own mask off while moving stages around because I was
so pissed" (about his buddy thumbing the dive because of safety concerns).
How the hell do you spazz out so bad that you knock your own mask off??
Just try and picture that. I dare you.

So, backing up to the dive that JT is whinning about, which occurred over
two years ago. On that dive (apparently his 24th technical dive past
150fsw), his scooter flooded because he ignored the prudent advice of his
fellow divers, he lost his knife, and he kept fidgetting with his light,
which apparently kept malfunctioning (maybe he took it past its depth
rating). That looks pretty much like a clusterfuck, at least to me. So,
you see, the louder JT says "look at him, look at him" you should wonder to
yourself what JT is trying to hide.

I can now understand this paranoia of JT's with perceived cover-ups and
clusterfucks, since cover-ups and clusterfucks appear to be the status quo
for him on his dives.

Hey JT, since you said I counted up your number of technical dives below
150fsw incorrectly, and they are not 43, just how many technical dives below
150fsw have you done in the past five years? I even offered you the option
of arbitrarily doubling your dive resume to 86 - you should take that gift.

TTFN,
Mike
