Hi JT- Well, I went ahead and took the time to count up all your technical dives. Phew! That was worse than doing my taxes. You have racked up a bunch of dives! Now I can see how you feel you are in a position to call everyone neophytes. I am including the list below; please feel free to correct the numbers as I wasn't sure on some of the liveaboard trips (e.g., ANDREA DORIA trips) exactly how many dives you did. Since I was in the area at the time, I don't recall you doing too many other tech dives aside from the USS WASHINGTON (first dove almost 10 years earlier) and your first ANDREA DORIA trip. I would be curious to learn about your trimix training and how many work-up dives you did before doing these super deep dives. I understand (from your own website - re: "seasoning") that there must have been some prior discussion about your lack of intermediate technical dive experience before doing your first Billy Mitchell trip. Care to share your early technical diving experience, since it is not to be found on your website? Surely you did not just do a DORIA trip or the WASHINGTON without conducting a significant number of less demanding technical dives first? In any case, here is the list I came up with: 1998 (4) ANDREA DORIA (3) USS WASHINGTON 1999 (11) MANUELA MALCHACE V-43 G-102 OCEAN VENTURE ANDREA DORIA (3) OSTFRIESLAND FRANKFURT OCEAN VENTURE 2000 (9) SKYCLIFFE ANDE MANUELA U-140 U-117 OSTFRIESLAND OCEAN VENTURE USS WASHINGTON VITRIC 2001 (15) 490FSW SAND DIVE SKYCLIFFE HYDRO ATLANTIC ANDREA DORIA (9??) ETHEL C LAKE JOCASSEE OSTFRIESLAND 2002 (4) U-117 ETHEL C OSTFRIESLAND LAKE JOCASSEE 2003 (0) You really have been a busy redneck JT! Looks like you have 43 dives past 150fsw from 1998 - 2003 (six-year average of seven dives; five year average of eight dives), according to your own website. Impressive! In the event I am wrong, and you do not have all your dives posted on your website (even though you said you did), let's go ahead and put a 100% error factor in that running total. So, that would give you 86 dives past 150fsw over five years. Now I see where you have developed this arrogant attitude of yours. Well earned indeed! I stand corrected JT. My sincere apologies. List, JT has obviously earned the right to call everyone who poses a question or anyone that disagrees with him a neophyte. Anyone that even suggests JT is anything but an experienced, competent, super-diver should just be ashamed of themselves. Laughing hysterically, Mike Michael C. Barnette Association of Underwater Explorers Because it's there...somewhere...maybe. http://www.mikey.net/aue _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
