Forget the dives, we all know you have a lot to learn. The private email I sent you asked that you try to set a decent example and stop holding up depth as some kind of goal. You have no idea the damage that does and who it might kill. If you are genuinely concerned about neophytes and safety, then keep them in mind when you speak since only a neophyte would be subject to taking your depth message to his death. Only a complete stroke like Tom Mouth holds depth up as any kind of measure., and that is because there is nothing else he can do or talk about other than go to the Caymans or Bahamas and drop down on his rebreather of the moment and brag about it. There is nothing to depth other than the annoyance of the deco and the gas management. Nothing is there but moondust, and very little worth visiting with those tradeoffs. Down here we have these walls and incredible clear warm water quite a ways down. The temp drops off really deep, but not too much to be an issue for a bounce dive. The vis is spectacular. At 500 feet in the Bahamas you can see horizontally about 400 feet. Above you the vis closes in a bell shape. You have wall and slope right under you the whole time and right next to you. This is where all the strokes do their deep air diving and deep rebreather diving. The caves of the Bahamas that go deep are a different kind of formation - they are like a matrix of vertical and horizontal rooms, not the passage conduits that we see in Florida and Mexico. Some are little tunnels, and some run along fault lines or cracks, but the vast majority are room to room dives. Many people have been killed trying to live up to the verbal message of strokes like Mouth in those caves. You see the problem is that you can get deep right away, just like you can on a wall, so even a stroke like Mouth, who can't get to the end of any cave in Florida, and all the strokes he listed in his little talk, can get the great depth validation easily and then go strutting around yapping about it. Anyway, JT, try setting a good example. Just keep in mind that when you start up with the depth thing, the only people you could possibly be impressing are the neophytes you are hammering, or the strokes like Mouth. You probably do impress him since he has never done any dive that is as tricky as yours due to the conditions you do them in, but let me remind you that the reason this piece of shit is still alive is that he is still "planning" to dive and actually only does his "big" dives with his mouth and that kills everyone but him. Be a good boy, JT and start being part of the solution instead of a spokesman and cheerleader for the problem. If you find yourself in agreement with Tom Mouth or any of those other losers you keep being seen with, let me assure you that you are wrong. -----Original Message----- From: Capt JT [mailto:captjt@mi*.co*] Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 7:54 PM To: George Irvine; Joe; techdiver@aquanaut.com; se2schul@st*.ma*.uw*.ca* Subject: RE: Fatal Depth To see a lot of my dives go here www.capt-jt.com I have posted many times things I have done. I have also posted number of dives, I have also posted diving for 11years now. George you have asked me in private to stop posting about my depths and dives, now you do the opposite. Joe, I have been diving longer in time, years and deeper in depth than the leader of your group. He did not even know how to fill my doubles when I stopped by DQ when it first opened.....HE was just learning so ask him the year. If you guys really want to know the answers they are in these post as I have said it all before http://www.aquanaut.com/bin/mlist/aquanaut/techdiver/from?Capt+JT I guess I could put numbers and bullshit like I see others do, this is just an example of how the others would post my dives if it was for them...... 1500 plus dives......400 scooters dives.... 900 decompression dives.....200 sub 200ft .....max depth to 490ft and all the other bullshit that the others do to look impressive. The fucked up part is it is always even numbers.
