Bill,
Unlike what George and the rest of his fellow Jerry Springer misfits say below,
I got on here and simply asked a couple of questions - about accident rates and
such, after someone made a comment about them. I did not say that CCR is
always safer or that OC is always safer - in fact I didn't say anything at all
about safety or even make any statements; I simply asked another couple of
questions. But since I seem to really get under George's skin, he came out of
hibernation to pounce. ;-)

I do believe that there are certain situations in which a CCR is safer over OC
(that's why I got mine - a Mk-15).

What I find amazing though is that George is finally admitting it, backtracking
from his stated position for years that CCRs are NOT DIR, period ("...makes
some little quip about how "safe" it is to dive ccr over oc. Well, that would
be true if ..."). So does that finally make CCRs DIR if his conditions (good
buddy team, etc) were met? Sounds like there may be a major change brewing in
DIR.... CCRs finally accepted after the DIR powers that be say so? George?

Cheers, Christina

P.S. With all of the Inspiration controversy (and everyone knows I'm no
Inspiration fan), I'm surprised that no one has mentioned what is probably the
most problematic design issue of all with this unit.....

P.P.S. And Chris, you should know better than to fly light planes - they are
just like CCRs in terms of risk. Just check the NTSB website.

I am curious with your statement:

"...Christina gets on here and
makes some little quip about how "safe" it is to dive ccr over oc. Well,
that would be true if the bailout were set up properly, you had a real
buddy
team and not these clowns, if you had proper training and not the weekend
warrior courses that predominate, and of course, the big one, if you had a
decent CCR and not the K Mart "Buddy Inspiration". "

Q. what do you consider a decent CCR rebreather?

I am really not bothered about all the hubris and name calling, I would
like to genuinely hear your views on the subject.

Bill

John, read the part where the one moron leaves the other moron because he
has a smaller diluent bottle. These idiots are basically diving with
"spare
airs". They planned a 500 foot dive where they could not stay down any
longer due to not having enough gas to last 20 minutes with 40:1 ratio.
How
stupid can stupid get? Then that blazing idiot Christina gets on here and
makes some little quip about how "safe" it is to dive ccr over oc. Well,
that would be true if the bailout were set up properly, you had a real
buddy team and not these clowns, if you had proper training and not the
weekend
warrior courses that predominate, and of course, the big one, if you had a
decent CCR and not the K Mart "Buddy Inspiration". Then that begs the
question , "why not use something that actually works and has none of
these
issues", as well the question, "why is this so important to do in the
first
place?".
