Hi Jan
This is not the first exchange we have had and the others were pleasant
just as this one will be. Yes there is a huge swing in what each person
believes what techdiving is, just as some consider a 200ft depth an extreme
dive for them, Tom and I no longer even carry tables for such dives. What
is extreme for one is a cake walk for another.
You have never been accused of doing any dick waving.... but lets face it,
you don't have one ;-)
I respect newbie questions until they no longer are real questions , but
either meant to defame someone or kiss anothers ass.
If I don't know you, I will generally do a search of the name to see what
comes up........you would be surprised at the things I find. I even have
photos that I have found on some pretty strange web sites, the person
didn't even know was out there. If I were most of you out there I would do
a search on your own name and see what comes up. The info that others will
put out on the web that you think is hidden and forgotten, others will put
out there without a second thought. I retain all information I
can.........you never know when you will get to expose someone at just the
right time, when they are in a full swing of dick waving.

Anyway......have a nice day

Exactly what consitutes technical diving is open for debate. I
don't have any plans to do 400' dives any time soon, if ever, but some
would say the dives I've done are technical dives. In any case, I'm
not a good example, since I don't do big dives by most people's
definition of that. (I do dives in the 200' range, maybe a little
deeper, with run times of 60-90 minutes max, using at most two deco

I do have friends I dive with who do more than I do. The dives I do
with them, and the ones they do without me that might be a bigger dive,
are ones you don't hear about because there is nothing remarkable about
them. They are not death-defying, they are not record setting, they
are just fun dives. The only thing to be said about them afterward
is that it was a great dive, a lot of fun, and a good way to spend time
with friends who share the same passion for diving.

The only reason you might hear of me is that I'm a recreational
instructor, I occasionally post on some of the lists when I have
something to say or can answer someone's question, and I've even traded a
couple of emails with you over the years.
Regarding newbie questions, people have to learn somehow. You can
chuckle about the questions being unnecessary, maybe even silly, but
sometimes it takes time to gain that perspective. I still believe
the only dumb question is the one that remains unasked.

This list and the others out there, are a way to share information, have
questions answered, and to help pass along ideas that can make us all
safer while we have fun underwater. I think most of the people here
appreciate when those purposes of the list occur, and get a little tired
when things stray off-topic for too long.
