Cathedral suffers from the same problem that Leon Sinks does - as time goes
on and the development or agricultural interests expand ( drawing down the
aquifer and providing nitrates which the caves fight by generating more
bacteria ) and the change in weather patterns brings flooding rains which
wash tannic surface water into the systems, we get very short and infrequent
windows of opportunity to dive. When we do dive these places, the lines are
all stained and buried in the silt so have to be fixed constantly.

We developed a technique in WKPP for diving over intermittently buried lines
when we encounter them prior to replacing them, but then you see we are
talking a major team effort to pull these things off in the short time
windows, and that brings up the issues of where we want to focus our
resources and people when the window opens, since it seems all of the North
Florida stuff clears at the same time.

We also have issues of placing and leaving safeties and other equipment.

The bottom line is that we are now in an El Nino, and you will not hear much
about any of these kinds of caves until it is over and it is summer.

This is why I have so much gear in Mexico right now.

Is anyone thinking of adding line to the Cathedral Canyon System ...
Exley's passage in Caverns Messureless "Maybe it just goes on forever" or
something like that ... I've heard it's a horror story on vis ... But it
seems that is a great challenge ... Thoughts? ... Comments? ... Updates ...
