Hi Bruce,
I was shocked and chagrined when I received your email below. As
Election Chair I would expect you to remain above the fray and to not get
involved in personal endorsements. Since you obviously have chosen to do
so, it seems that you've crossed the ethical/moral boundary of your
position.

I think you should step down immediately from the position of
Election Chair. If you're already biased as shown below by your
endorsements, I see no way for us to believe the election will be fair and
impartial. I realize the votes are counted by an outside auditor, but other
factors are in NAUI HQ control, such as:
It also seems that the NAUI Email list is not equally available to
all BOD candidates, as some have requested it and not received it. That
makes it seem NAUI's actions (or inactions) appear to be even more "over the
line", if the list used was the official NAUI email list. I've always held
the highest respect for you due to your scientific/research endeavors, as I
know we've all benefited from your findings. But I did not expect this kind
of behavior from someone of your stature in the diving community.

I personally am not excited at all about the "new NAUI". It reeks
to high heaven from my perspective; looks like a power play/financial
takeover long-term. If we're doing so well and we're financially sound now,
isn't that our goal? What else should members expect to gain? Thanks for
letting us know which of the candidates DO support the new NAUI in your
view; my votes will go for two of the others now.

Please step down; it's the right thing to do. Thanks.

Richard Kongable, NAUI IT 19854

   NAUIites,

Following a thumbs up vote by the present BOD, NAUI has split into
two Corporations -- NAUI Services Group and NAUI Corporation -- with
an extended and expanding role for all of NAUI. It's a landmark for NAUI,
and one that needs forward-looking and capable new NAUI BOD Members
in this year's Election -- ones with business saavy and experience.

Two very forward-looking, capable, and NAUI-solid candidates, KATHRYN
UDE and SPENCER SLATE, deserve your attention and support. They have
mine. Check their Bios and Position Statements on your ballots.

Many new venues are under consideration for NAUI. NAUI is also rock
solid financially for the first time in its history. There has been some
talk
(only at this time) about expanding NAUI Technical Diving Operations into
the
diving research arena, in addition to technical training. Such could be
a rich symbiosis. Tech divers have been yelling for such for a long time.

Thanks for your time and consideration. Pass this on and be sure to
vote.

  Bruce Wienke
