Perhaps you mean the Hole in the Wall incident involving an Australian called Rolf Adams ? That is now a standard text in the Incident Report section of the Cave course for the CDAA (Cave Diving Association of Australia). Though it would be a bit scary if you actually learned too much from it. According to the report written by his buddy on the fateful dive he was just winding up a one month diving expedition with the USDCT, although he had only done his Cavern and Basic Cave certificates in that same month (?) At one point the surviving diver says in his report " .. I was practising skip breathing and doing a decent job for a change on air consumption .." (No, I am not making this up) Lamar Hires had done his instruction, Sheck and Bill Stone did the body recovery. You can download a 1.8MB PDF of the entire debacle at http://www.realworld.com.au/Rolf.pdf Regards dean laffan r e a l w o r l d p r o d u c t i o n s 6 7 l i t t l e g e o r g e s t, f i t z r o y m e l b o u r n e, a u s t r a l i a home/office +613-9419-3966 Mobile 0418-525-315 -- Luck is preparation, met by opportunity. -Anon -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
