I've watched this thread for some time an now feel it is necessary to post. I bought one of the new Gavin wreck diving scooters from George as part of the VB Tech crowd. George was extremely helpful during, as well as after the purchase. He made every effort to get the scooters to the folks up here in the quickest possible time. Mine arrived in less than 5 days after order. Mine has the appropriate clutch for my use. To say that I (or others) was (were) given less than what I (they) thought we were going to get in the product is to say that you didn't get the trailer towing package on your new pick-up truck when a) you never plan to pull a trailer, b)never ordered the package, and c) never paid for the package. Now that I know that there is a different clutch available I have NO plans to order it as mine works great and I don't plan to do the type of diving that George says the other clutch is necessary for. In other words I'm not pulling a trailer, so I have no need for the trailer pulling package. So I don't know why someone would order the towing package (more expensive & finicky clutch) if you aren't pulling a trailer. I'll take the recommendations of the manufacturer. After I first used the scooter I found it took in a small amount of water. I called George, told him the problem and let HIM diagnose it. He told me the solution and shipped me a replacement nose cone that day, no charge. I took the scooter out with the new nose cone and problem solved! Todd got his scooter about a month before I got mine. He had a minor problem of the switch not working properly depending on the attitude of the scooter. Being an electronics wiz (a former Nuclear Reactor Operator for the US Navy), he diagnosed it on the spot while I watched. Then, instead of trying to kludge up a fix, he called George, explained the situation and asked what to do. George explained to him how to adjust the reed switch in 20 seconds and problem solved. As far as I know, EVERYONE who contacted George directly was taken care of with no problem. It would seem that the only one who has a problem in dealing with George on scooters is JT, who has not purchased a scooter from George but has one he got from someone else. Yes JT has had, and destroyed, more scooters than most folks have ever owned. And while JT has 3 scooters, he uses one of George's he got from someone else because his other two are in pieces. He has pretty well destroyed them while trying to re-design his Apollos into "Gavin look alikes". However, when I last saw one of then in April, it looked a bit more like the "Bride of Frankenstein".
