The dives are deep, dark=20 and cold. You could spend weeks preparing, be geared up, tanked up with=20 HE the night before and have the dive called. What do you do then? You=20 suck it up and get ready for the next trip. You Florida knuckleheads would be whining and moaning the whole way.=20 Everytime you MF's come up here you spend the whole trip out and back=20 barfing over the side rolled up in a green ball. ------------------ End Jim Cobb ---------------------------- Ho humm!!!!=20 Saw a couple "planning and coordinated" NE divers this weekend. Actually = I didn't see them that well; they managed to silt up a clear system = because they had no buoyancy control or efficient swim techniques = dragging their stage bottles along. They're big dive of 1434 ft required = a stage. Ours (4450 ft) was on back gas only and we still had enough = left over (following 1/3rd's rule) for a second dive that was farther = than the big time NE divers' with stages. My divers were only apprentice = level; I'm sure the NE boys were big time divers with a bag full of = certs and experience. The "cut to the chase" bottom line that is so hard for the wanna bees to = swallow is the best technical divers are top-shelf cave divers. The best = NE divers are the ones who are good cave divers who were trained by = instructors who know their shit (and will flunk the losers). With a few = exceptions, they are from FL. Ask yourself where the real techniques and = relevant equipment improvements came from. The things Jim mentions (e.g. = deep, dark, cold, planning, blowouts, etc.) are par for the course and = no big deal. The difference is some divers choose to just handle it = without worrying too much about it and trying to make it into something = it is not. My suggestion, Jim, is to get your skill level up and maybe = you can carry one of my dive apprentice's tanks for him. Then you will = understand how ridiculous all this whining is :-) Take care, Doug ------=_NextPart_000_0009_01C23C82.6D1E1BE0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2716.2200" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>From Jim Cobb:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial><FONT size=3D2>Tech dives up here take days of = planning and=20 coordination and are not <BR>considered afternoon larks like you FL = divers.
