Thought I might have a go at livening up these posts. A thread devoted to mostly true stories about the diving in your area, detailing close shaves, dangerous or confusing dive practices you have witnessed, ect. The accounts should be as accurate as possible, and while are partly for amusement they should not be at anyone's expense, along with offering an insight into safe diving practices. I'll start the ball rolling: In the late 80's a scuttled naval vessel was discovered off Sydney, Australia. The ship lies in 72-74 mtrs of water. This was before the advent of specialist deep diving techniques and equipment in Australia. Due to the depth, wetsuit compression resulted in BC's filled to overflowing. Some divers practiced a special technique, of remouving the weight belt on the bottom and leaving it next to the anchor line, thus leaving the diver streamlined. However, at least one diver, due to the narcosis, the vis and the broken down nature of the wreck failed to find the anchor. He then grabbed a hunk of wreckage and started swimming up. He ommited all deco, as the bit of wreckage was of insufficient weight. He them swam to the boat, borrowed a weight belt and went down to do his deco. The diver apparently reported no adverse effects from his experience. Rod Nairne.
