Dear Peter,
Good to hear from you -- was hoping you would reply.
A couple of points here for everybody:.
1) -- in the ADM article on Deep Stops, we CLEARLY acknowledge that
Haldane "tested deep stops FIRST". But it NEVER went any further
His computational machinery doesn't allow it either. (BTW, that
article
was first sent to you for publication in ALERT DIVER at the
request
of Earnest Campbell, MD, so you can certainly verify what I said
here)
2) -- The tech community really pioneered, tested, and made deep stops
work. Hills might have done it, but he blew it with his
Oceaneering
tests with you guys at Duke -- his dropout at 20 fsw probably
missed
the short tail of the deco curve (I believe). Many also believe
that slammed
the door on deep stops until the tech community picked back up on
it.
Deep stops today do not blow that tail away -- nor do the models.
3) -- Your recent studies, along with Marroni, Brubakk, and Cope seem
to be (re) affirming deep stop technology. Thanks mucho for
that.
Please accept my formal invitation to re-present that at the
Deep Stops And Modern Deco Stategies Workshop in February
in Tampa. And we certainly want Richard to talk too -- I will
connect with him when I get back
4) -- tech diving is a deadly serious business for me and my "tech
friends"
I have a bunch more to add -- but later.
It's always a pleasure to talk to you. My best regards,
BW
