admit doing just that. =20
>He had stroke gear. Bungeed wings.

First we must understand the time frame that most of this was occurring =
was before 99% of the people on this mailing list crept past the 130ft =
depth limit and/or utilized mixed gas. Billy was an OMS dealer (with =
business obligations along that line) and yes the bungeed wings have =
been rightfully (IMHO) discredited countless times for numerous reasons =
since. By DIR definitions OMS bungeed wings, or any wings with bungees =
for that matter, are "stroke" gear. I do not claim to be a DIR diver; =
however I suspect my (and those I dive with) philosophy in using Occum's =
razor affords similar end results: minimalization, streamlining, =
constant improvement, and bullet-proof operations. Most of the people I =
see who claim to be "DIR like" just have the equipment with the most =
important piece, their brain, spinning in idle. George and I disagree =
from time to time, sometimes quite ferociously, but I believe he may =
agree that a "stroke" is more an illustration of a person, with the =
information laid well and truthfully before them, who refuses to step =
into the light, improve, and constantly evolve beyond gadgetry, shiny =
toys, and fairy tales.=20

By today's DIR definition Billy may be a "stroke" because of his then =
choice of equipment. So what! 'But I'd rather dive with Billy and his =
"stroke" OMS wing rather than risk diving with the idiots who have all =
the DIR gear but lack the skill and intellect to safely use it.

IMHO,
Doug
