I will certainly 2nd that statement... and he didn't feel compelled to =
beat up divers to get his points across. He didn't need to because his =
arguments were well thought out, non-paranoid or combative, reasonable, =
and appropriate in measure. It was an admirable quality for someone who =
at that time was essentially a respected statesman for the emerging =
technical diving industry. He made his dive trips fun as well as safe.

I was in Key West over the July 4th and holiday weekend this year, and I =
miss having a serious competent dive operator in that area. Out of =
curiosity, I inquired in various shops about trips to the deep wrecks =
and was met with the typical responses (a translation would be they were =
clueless and defensive of their egos - but they all offered 1/2 day =
SCUBA classes/experiences as evidence of their view on diver safety).=20
