I am not a diver. My husband however, is. I sat down last night and =
watched this show on diving with him. He explains a lot about diving to =
me. Pretty much eats, sleeps, and lives to dive. My concern is this. In =
regards to the BC configuration differences on this show, I was amazed =
at how simple the DIR configuration is compared to the others. Why would =
someone want to buy a Buoyancy Control Device, which is to be used for =
buoyancy control, and then tie it down with a cord so they can fit in =
tight spaces in a cave? Why not use a smaller BC, like in DIR, so you =
don't have to modify it? Even though I am not a diver, even I can see =
how much better the DIR configuration is. This is what my husband will =
be using. Not just because he wants to, but because I want him to. I =
want him to come back from his dives. Especially since he wants to start =
cave diving. If you are going to do something that could be dangerous, =
then do it as safely as possible. That is what DIR looks like to me. ALL =
SAFETY! Of course there are other aspects of the DIR configuration that =
are very good, but I am not a diver so I will leave these debates to =
those more experienced than myself. My point is this, if you are a diver =
and you have loved ones at home who most likely want to see you come =
back, then put your pride or prejudices away and dive as safely as =
possible. Even a person that doesn't dive can see the safest way to =
configure dive gear is DIR. Dive safe guys and gals.
