The object when traveling is to carry as little as possible. Bringing
another adapter like the single tank adapter is just a pain. Its also nice
when you can collapse everything.  Trying to bend or fold a backplate is
nearly impossible. Just for background, I started cave/tech diving in the
early 80s. So I have some backgound using a backplate/harness. I also
started sidemounting w/ a backplate but soon dropped that idea. A soft
harness is so much better, especially when your trying to wiggle through a
small hole.

Just to be up front, I'm no longer doing any big Florida adventure cave
diving. Most of my diving now is centered around island cave
exploration and traveling to europe to go wreck diving.
