Can you (or anyone) explain what you mean by this? You seem to be saying
that the *way* you lay the line tells you which way is out, rather than
markers on the line (which is what I do)?

And on a related note...
What exactly do you learn? We don't have such courses in the UK, as far as
I'm aware - even the CDG cave diving "course" is basically "read the
manual, go cave diving" (probably, but not necessarily, with someone more
experienced).
