Elizabeth,

I too am a PADI diver with a great interest in expanding my diving knowledge
so I am interested in finding out what organizations give technical diving
courses specifically in the areas of wreck penetration.

I have taken the PADI wreck specialty course and frankly it does not teach
you much in the areas of penetration. The course did 'touch' on wreck
penetration SIMULATION. I did learn how to 'string' your line so you would know
which way is 'in' and which way is 'out'. The fin kick which minimizes silting
was also shown. Other than that, we just 'played' around the exterior of several
wrecks and that was it for the specialty. Common sense tells me that there is
alot more to wreck diving/penetration than the course teaches so therefore I
would not even think(maybe dream) of penetrating a wreck without further
training.

If you want to do wreck diving with no penetration than the course is
sufficient and fun. If you want to try wreck penetration then if I may, I
suggest that you bypass the PADI specialty and take a course which offers
'real'wreck penetration -

On that note I would like to pose the question to all - what organizations
offer this type of course?

Thanks in advance.

Brigitte.
