Besides, the scale at Bank of America says I am a fat slob at 5' 10" , 195,
so that makes Cobb a pencil necked geek at 6'4" 240 or whatever. Also, Gary
Genetiles uses a "slobwinder" to turn on the air pony mounted between his
doubles, and he is a skinny rat. Kane took a picture of this, which still
brings tears of laughter to my eyes.

The NE guys use layers and layers of insulation, bullshit drysuits, and then
can not figure out why they can not reach their valves. Of course, they are
all terrified of manifolds, and I would be too if I had their lack of skill
in the water, I'd dive a body cage or a Newt Suit.

It is so funny - I went and dove with these guys with Pina and JJ, and all I
took different was my gloves. My face immediately got numb at depth, but I
was comfortable and happy with C-4 and a weightbelt so I could add gas and
keep the suit easy. I could reach my valves, even though the doubles they
lent me had the bands too low on the tanks, and there were no other issues.

I really got so lucky drawing Parker Turner as a cave instructor. He told me
what to expect if I did stroke shit, and he was right, and it applied to
every type of diving. Everyone keeps fighting reality. This is an easy , fun
sport and its participants should die of old age like Cousteau, but then
that would not attract the strokes like this does.

It's because of assholes such as this, that people don't own up to
their mistakes. This hurts the diving community as a whole. I for
one have a lot of respect for Jim, for having the guts to come out
and say that he's not ready. The reason it takes guts is exactly
because there are assholes like the one who posted the message below.
I've had some disagreements with Jim in the past, and yes, he can be
abrasive. This does not, however, give one license to shoot him down
in public when he does the right thing.

I'd just like to add that whoever this asshole is, he's also a
coward, since he doesn't have the guts to sign his name.
