Skip, In addition to your comments which I agree with, I would also add that I hear all the time that the DIR message would spread faster if so and so was nicer, or some other such touchy feely nonsense.. The fact is that if someone is going to put themselves into a situation of a technical dive, meaning a direct ascent isn't possible without risk of injury or death, and they want to be hand held on the internet, then that diver better develop a thicker skin.. I've yet to see someone get torn up for simply asking a question.. Generally speaking, the flames only occur after a question is asked, the answer is provided and then either the original questioner or some know-it-all chimes in with some poorly thought out, personal preference crap that is usually a much riskier methodology.. PADI has trained divers like Pavlovian dogs with this * in the unlikely event* *positive reinforcement* nonsense that when a diver moves on from the recreational stuff and moves into tech diving they expect the same BS.. It's been my experience that if you want the answers, you can get them.. But by the same token if you want flames you'll get them as well.. The question is what do they want..
