It seems like the lower density gas (He) will cause the compressor to = over heat. Any way, this guy does it, in the way it is described in O2 hackers. You could probably use a bag and fittings such as those on a quantiflex = (relative analgesia) or anaesthetic aparatus. I thought of blending 12/50 (so only 50%) and then pumping that to = reduce the potential over-heating problems. Then blend with that, but then it we could not get the higher PP of = Helium. Personally, I don't want to take the risk of damaging my compressor, so = I toss out the helium. Kind regards, Jeff the Darwinian. BTW, highest helium prices in Australia!!! ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Glyn Evans=20 To: Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com=20 Sent: Tuesday, April 02, 2002 11:07 AM Subject: Helium Pumping Hi List, =20 I am trying to pump Helium although I do not have access to booster = pump. I have read (in the excellent O2 hackers guide) that it is = possible by allowing the He to expand to Atmospheric pressure and then = recompressing it with a normal compressor. Also using a bladder in = between the cylinder and compressor inlet to regulate the feed pressure. I was wondering if anyone on the list had actually got any experience = in doing this and could offer advice. =20 Thanks in advance Glyn. =20 ------=_NextPart_000_0056_01C1DA5D.BCFA0480 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2919.6307" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi Glyn,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I know some one who does that, he = slowed the=20 compressor down to 3/4 of it's speed to avoid overheating.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>It seems like the lower density gas = (He) will cause=20 the compressor to over heat.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Any way, this guy does it, in the way = it is=20 described in O2 hackers.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>You could probably use a bag and = fittings such as=20 those on a quantiflex (relative analgesia) or anaesthetic = aparatus.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I thought of blending 12/50 (so only = 50%) and then=20 pumping that to reduce the potential over-heating problems.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Then blend with that, but then it we = could not get=20 the higher PP of Helium.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Personally, I don't want to take the = risk of=20 damaging my compressor, so I toss out the helium.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Kind regards,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Jeff the Darwinian.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>BTW, highest helium prices in=20 Australia!!!</FONT></DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE=20 style=3D"BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-RIGHT: = 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message ----- </DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: = black"><B>From:</B>=20 <A href=3D"mailto:gevans@cs*.co*" title=3Dgevans@cs*.co*>Glyn = Evans</A>=20 </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A=20 href=3D"mailto:Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com"=20 title=3Dtechdiver@aquanaut.com>Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Tuesday, April 02, 2002 = 11:07=20 AM</DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> Helium Pumping</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2>Hi List,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2>I am trying to pump Helium although I do not have = access to=20 booster pump.
