Subject: New HDPE Gavin and Demos
Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 14:59:08 -0800

I wanted to report on the new HDPE Gavins:

First, let me warn you! These are ADDICTIVE and the MOST FUN you have had
since....

To quote one of the guys who tried it. "Anything this fun should be
illegal."

For a long time serious cavers have been using Gavins. And, recently, very
serious open water divers, like the guys that dove the Britannic (AG and his
crew) began using Gavins to extend their range and increase their safety.

For extreme diving, these are a huge piece of safety gear. They can beat
many currents, help you from building CO2, keep your RMV low and extend your
range.

But, I never realized just how many applications these little beauties have,
even for recreational diving. They are easy to use, come up to speed
no matter how big the load, and make you smile sooo big the regulator is
hard
to keep in place.

Gavins, as many know, are required equipment for many doing serious dives.

But, the true moral of this story is--so many of us are missing out
on the fun of a truly unique scooter. I don't care if you never plan on
going
past 100 feet, this scooter will change your outlook on diving!

They have been so much fun, Manta Ray Dive Center in Northern
California (home of the Monterey kelp forests) and Dive Tek in Kona, Hawaii
(where they dive deep walls, swim with mantas, dolphins, and whales) have
been prompted to offer Gavins in their "Demo Programs."

This is still a bit new and will not be in full swing till May / June, but I
could not wait to share the news.

The West Cost will be set up to service and repair Gavins several locations:
5th D in the Pacific Northwest, Manta Ray Dive Center in Northern
California,
(John Walker in Southern California?), plus for tropical diving
at Dive Tek in Kona Hawaii.

We now have some experience with both the PVC and HDPE shorts. The HDPE
models are identical to the PVC except in the tail sections, where George
uses HDPE.

They come in three body color configurations. We have all three:

1. White - best for our dark and green West Coast waters. Easier to spot on
the surface and underwater.

2. Flat Black - best for use around the photo or video guys (doesn't seem to
reflect as much light). These are the MEANEST and COOLEST looking-- easily
scratched, but just as easily touched up. These are the same body as the
white ones above, but have met with a spray can of flat black. This is the
unit that will scare the airport guys...(kidding).

3. NEW Black body (PVC) - If pretty is your thing, this is SUPER FINISHED
looking. No paint needed because of the integral black material. It reflects
a bit more light than the flat black versions and doesn't look as mean, but
it's
just plain beautiful.

Each generation being delivered seems just a little more refined.
