First, I would get a stroke free boat arranged. Then, go out up current and
mark the wreck, checking the speed of the surface current using GPS or
landmarks. Either throw a ball on it, and drop up current by the amount of
time that it will take you to get through the 150 foot current layer ( about
2 minutes), take the ball with you by letting it all the way out , arcing a
half circle with it upwind and then jumping up current by the same amount,
or jump with a freediving float let out on a reel the same way . Boat stays
free and divers stay together, with one person designated to secure the ball
or float on the wreck, and one person designated to remove it when he sees
everyone is ready. Everyone dives the same plan. I realize this will not
work for the idiots, but then who cares, we are talking a stroke free boat.

Gas is obvious - at least a true 50% helium with a 12-14 oxygen. The wreck
is about 250-260, with the profile being more like 240. I would descend at
less than 60 fpm, stay down there less than 25 minutes at the bottom,
preferably 18-20 minutes. I would use al 80's unless it is cold and calm and
you could wear the dry suit and 104's. I would use a 40 al of 50% and a 30
or 40 al of 100% for deco.

Coming of the wreck at about 200 on bottom gas, I would do the following:

190-120 - in 6 min
90 - 2
80 - 2
70 - 50% - 4 min
60 - 4
50 -4
40- 4
30 - 5
20 -13
20-10 -6

You can do more 20 foot time if you feel like it, but it is not necessary if
you do the lower part correctly. It can also be done in a lot less, but why
bother.

I'm interested in how you look at the whole picture, start to finish. How
would you plan a dive on the RBJ?

thanks,

don't answer this, other than with a profile for discussion - a common

not a bungee jump. We need to get this clear so people don't walk away with
half

this
discussion would like to see happen.
