Hey George,

Thanks for the profile. The run time here is shorter than what I am doing,
which I expected. The scary part is comparing this to the Doria dive. Yes
the Doria profile is longer but only by a little comparatively. It's just
scary to think about! You know old (bad) habits die hard. I think I need
to get in a little better shape before I start moving towards this type of a
profile but you've said that before, good shape and no PFO.

Thanks again for the profile! This thread is extremely interesting and
surprisingly the "noise" level is pretty low compared to previous posts
where it's hard to get the info out with the "usual suspects" mucking up the
water and message!

Art.

Art.first of all, there is no "comparison" of a 125 air dive to anything
from a decompression standpoint since there is no deco that works for that.
Forget "air tables" - they are nonsense, as are nitrox "air equivalent"
tables. Drop those concepts from your mind. Secondly, use 30% helium or
greater - the lower percentages don't do the job. Next, leave the oxygen out
of the first dive and take it on the second.

Both dives have the same deco times, only use the oxygen from 20 feet on the
second dive . Use the ascent from depth and the final surfacing protocol
already outlined before.

from bottom to 70 - 3 minutes
From 70 - switch and spend 3 minutes.
60 2
50 2
40 3
30 5
20 8
To surface - 3 more minutes

If you want to add time, do it from 20 to the surface.

George,

My most common ocean dive is 125 ft for 45 minutes, 2 hour surface, then
another 45 minutes bottom time. Previously I was using AIR for bottom gas
and O2 for deco but this year I think I'm switching to a bottom mix of 21/25
(O2/He) then 50/50 and O2 for deco. According to my deco program the run
times are basically the same so no extra time in the water.

I'd be interested in your gas choice as well as your profile.

What is the most common dive you guys are doing that we can start with as an
example? Give me the depth and time at the bottom.

It is a lot easier to do the longer times due to the use of more gasses, but
I am suspicious that nobody but us does that, and you would be an idiot to
do it in the open ocean as opposed to a cave.

I can then run it and also show what happens when it is longer or shorter.

I personally think of dives as 100 ft, 150, 200, 250 or 300, and I use gas
for 1,2 or 3. The deco gas choice is dependent on the bottom time. While the
gases are standard, whether you use them all or not is operational and time
dependent. Below 100 is a special case, and beyond 350 is a special case.
