I am trying different windings to see if I can make something that will beat
the Gulfstream current riding down a line to wrecks that have been hooked.
Usually it is just the surface current that is bad, but sometimes it extends
deep, and if you can ride down at a shallow angle, it is a hell of a lot
better for you.

What we generally do in bad current is hook the wreck to see it, and then
get up current and drop through the flow and then motor along the bottom on
a compass heading , out of the current, but this is not the easiest thing to
do unless the vis is decent. Riding the line is a sure thing.

The motors I am trying for this will not make good cave motors, since they
will use more current and give shorter burn times, and the extra speed is
unnecessary and means different gas calculations, not to mention mismatched
scooters. Also, there is a risk of them heating up and eventually eating the
brush board. Those I will replace with standard high thrust motors that we
use in the WKPP.

My next round of high thrust will be ridiculous, and I need some volunteers
for those. Keep in mind there is no risk to you to other than the annoyance
if you have to send it back. Right now, I think Tony Martinez has one ( I
asked him to check it out against the flow here and take it as deep as he
can and try to screw it up, but so far he has not reported back to me after
a couple of months). I have one in one of my ocean scooters, but have not
been up against any big current since I made it .and I have some in others
that are out there. I did not tell anyone but Martinez which motor they
have. I am waiting to see ( or hear) objective feedback.

I really need some of the more active local wreck divers like Barnette and
Mikey to take mine out and try it. Now that I have somebody in Seattle that
I trained to fix my scooters, I can try some out there as well.

Interesting. Is this the one with the new 65lbs thrust motor?
George was testing this with a couple of guys but haven't heard anything
about it.

Rgds,
Davy
